Chief Deputy District Attorney Connelly, a career prosecutor, has been with the Erie County District
Attorney’s office for 16 years. She has handled thousands of cases, specializing in domestic violence
prosecutions, along with being the lead prosecutor of sexual assault cases in Erie County since 2004. To
date, Connelly has prosecuted 26 murder cases. As Chief Deputy District Attorney she supervises 13
Assistant District Attorneys.
Connelly is not only an advocate for victims but a voice for all. “My job is not and has never been about
one individual. I have to look at the bigger picture and determine what is the best for everyone involved.
Justice is not always about a conviction.”
Outside of criminal law, Connelly has served as an arbitrator in personal injury, contract, and civil
disputes. As an adjunct professor at Mercyhurst University she taught their mock trial course, coaching
students through criminal and civil courtroom procedures in preparation for a statewide competition.
She has also coached numerous mock trial teams at both high school and collegiate levels. She is a board
member for Protection from Abuse Coordinated Services and has served on various sexual assault and
domestic violence task forces.
Through the Erie County Bar Association’s ‘Attorneys and Kids Together’ program she has been
mentoring children for years. She also volunteers her time reading to kids as part of the ‘Books for Kids’
Erin Connelly is married to Lt. Bill Marucci, U.S. Marine Combat Veteran, who serves as SWAT and
Special Operations Division Commander for the Erie Police Department. Connelly has two
stepdaughters; Juliana (17) and Lauren (14).
